It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Here's a few Christmas cards I made for a small order. The lady had seen a Red & white /Penny Black card I'd made ages ago and wanted them to be near enough the same.
It did take me a little while to find the same backing paper, and even then, it wasn't quite the same, but I don't think she noticed! Also BIG thank you to Brenda over on Butlersabroad who very kindly stamped me out some more of these images, (we did a across the 'pond' stamp swap! Michigan to The New Forest!!) as I don't have this stamp...yet!)

The trouble I had was the original paper was Forever friends "Gift Wrapped" Double-sided A4 Card stock, 240gsm, which my Martha lace punch did cut through when it was new, trouble is, it won't now! What I ended up finding was Forever Friends "Santa's on his way" A4 paper pack, 160gsm and as luck would have it, PaperCraft Inspiration Magazine had a free Forever Friends "Every Occasion"Decoupage Card Kit this month, so one way or another I did find enough of the same paper to get the cards done!
And here they are...

They are virtually the same as a card I've blogged before. They all have loads of Stickles Glitter, one has mirco fine glitter added to make it look as though the 'snow' is glistening, which is a really nice effect and one I'll use again. (I used a quickie Glue pen to adhere it and it saves using glittered card)
That particular card also has a red scallop and holly fringe across the top, (punched from the 240gsm card stock) and you'll be pleased to know, was cut using a Xcut punch, less than a quarter of the price of the Martha Stewart!
The sentiments all were done on the computer. I used a freebie font called AdineKirnberg-s and you can down load it HERE
It's very small, so you have to have the font size at about 28 rather than your normal 12/14. and yes...I did run out of the rd dotty ribbon, which is why there's a red bow over the image instead...
oh, and the red Christmas table cloth? came from Tesco's quite a while ago...

As you can see I did a green one too!

New Followers Hi and a ((big wave)) to Claire, with no link, and Rafika who you'll find over on rafikasuhandi. (if you can find the comment box let me know!! That's it for now. Thank you for stopping by!!

Emma's Tiny Christmas Tree

Emma, my eldest daughter, likes things simple and that includes all her cards. She's just made this very simple 3x3 Christmas card and plans on making quite a few to send to all her friends.
So, if you're stuck and could do with an idea for making a Christmas card that's very simple and easy to do... here it is!
Emma has used, a packet of 20 Papermania 3x3 pearl card, (99p from the Range) green gems, tiny square gem and a star gem, all fixed on using a Quickie Glue pen. The tiny Merry Christmas was from my stash!

Emma's on a roll now! She's just made a couple more tiny Christmas Tree cards... I think they're getting better!
Now all I need to find is a 'little teeny weeny' challenge!!

Lovely Blog Awards:

Sometime last week, I said I was a rubbish blogger when it comes to Blog Awards. The lovely Dawn, over Dawns Crafting gave me a lovely Tinkerbell Award a million years ago (I blogged about it last week) and the lovely Michelle (Thistle) has sent me 'One Lovely Blog' Award as did Nicky, Sunshine Girl but luckily I did have this all nicely typed out in draft and then forgot it (again) So....here it is now, re-vamped (as it was about a month old...oops!! ) Now the Tinkerbell Award has to be passed on to seven lovely bloggers and the 'One Lovely Blog' is for fifteen..x 2 so....(I was never good at maths!) so that's 3o!! So, I'll think on that one for a little bit longer and add some names here later.. (honest!!) Meanwhile I'd love to share Dawn's Magical Tinkerbell Award with seven lovely bloggers... who in turn can pass it on to seven more lovely bloggers!

Michelle (Thistle) Nicky, Sunshine Girl Kym over on Kym's Crafty Cards Mustavcoffee over on Crafty musings. Kathy from purple princess diaries Anne (Liverpool Lou) and Paula over on Scrap Addicts Attic
Now, if you'd rather have the 'One Lovely Blog' Award instead of Tinkerbella, I'm sure the Blogg Police won't mind!

New Followers, Hi and a (( big wave)) to Crafty Amy, pop over and take a look at some of Amy's lovely cards! Stamponme, with no link, and out the back and in the dark also with no link Taz...
That's it for now. Thank you for stopping by!

WOYWW! or it might just be a Short Post

Oh I'm sooo late. We haven't been home long from dog/house sitting... so my workbench looks like it did when I left it... hopefully you can see a picture, which means I found the camera in time before I nipped off to work, if you can't... I didn't!!
Which means... all you will see is a picture of a short post... actually I like the picture of the short post, so I'll leave that anyway!

If I get up early enough to draw a freebie... it might be a bit wonky, so... if it is... pop back later because I might just have to change it when I see it in 'daylight' !! Or if it's not there.... pop back later and it will be!!

My work bench this week is just covered with bits from my last post, which went out on Sunday, the mess was made on Friday... I was going to use the card you see in the picture, but... I didn't! (eagle eyed blog hoppers might realise it's been around before and never used, I'm sooo indecisive!)
Oho before I forget, Thank you Amy, for my lovely ATC!
Now, if you like snooping into other crafty people's crafty places... click over to Julia's blog and join in!!

Sorry you missed!

It's Not All Quirky Black & White...

It's Cazzy's turn to set the Challenge this time, and no, it's not all black and white over on Quirky Craft's Challenge Blog this time round, it's...
black, white and one other accent colour...
plus
use one or more punches!!
(oho, take that! ouch!)
Here's my DT card. I've left off the sentiment so I can change it into whatever whenever, but most likely a birthday card.
I used DoveCraft Papers, Stickles Glitter, and stuff from my stash, The Glittered black butterfly was fixed to acetate first and then adhered to the card with silicone glue.
As you can see by the picture, I've gone a bit mad with the magenta. This I added by colouring some white card with my oldest and favourite colour Promaker pen, (maybe I should have used the paler pink?) then used my Martha Stewart lace punch. I also touched up the pink that was already on the papers. Plus a few flowers I made using Woodware punches, they have velum centres (covered with Stickles) That's about all I can add to this card, I think!
Pop over to see who you picked as overall winner via the voting! (that doesn't mean they've won an overall!) We on the team decided to choose a winner too, just for its real 'Quirkiness' !!
Now, here's a challenge for you! How many different punches do you think I used in the end???
Answers on a postcard please...no, honest...have a guess... email me on dragonsmoore at goolemail dot com or leave a comment. I did have a few challenges for this card but, sawdust brain here has left her little note book at home, so I'll add them later! Now it's time to walk those darn doggies again!! Thank you for stopping by...

It's a Wowzers Day ! Freebie & a Magical Blog Award from Dawn!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! How you diddling? Really? Well that's okay then! It's another one of those days, when I stay up all night taking pictures of what craftiness I've been up to on my work desk and this week (blow your trumpet Bob!) !!! Ta ta ta ttaaaa!!!! It's TIDY!!! Weeeeellll ok, it's not as tidy as some of your desks, but it's tidy for me!! But for those of you who want to see other fabulous very tidy and sometimes not so tidy crafty desks, you know what to do...pop over to Julia's blog, Stamping Ground, and join in. Go on...do it now!! For once, I'm not going to work at five minutes past the crack of dawn, I'm here (for a bit, but still on timer) so with any luck, I'll be poised, with finger on the keyboard, waiting, to see if I can get in to the number one spot! Luck rather that judgement, I fear, and of course you have to be a very fast typist... I usually start at round about number 9 but end up at number 44. (Thank you Mandi for linking me again last week) this week I'm #42!
So here's the desk, complete with today's freebie before I got at it with my computer! Yes, his hat was pointy, but it isn't any more... votes taken for pointy hat or droopy hat please!
There's also some yummy stuff I won from Thistle (thank you!!) and a sneeky peek of some things that might be turned into a DT card for the weekend, or...on the other hand, (apart from some paint) might not be. Who knows? But the clue is there!! And!!!A cup of cold tea, in my mug from Poland via somewhere a little closer to home, thank you jozart for letting me know where I can buy more, as Jozart has my mug's cousin, or it could be it's aunt! Who knows what mugs get up to when we're not looking! Last week, hubby nicked my batteries and this week, he had the camera, said he needed to take a picture of a seagull... here it is.... If I get that on my bird table, I won't be happy!
So, good crafty people! Off you go hence and hither to Julia's!! And Remember, if you see a flying pig, take an umbrella, keep taking the pills and if some one yells 'duck', it just might be! Thanks for dropping in! Still can't get into moy yin's blog

Sorry you missed this weeks freebie...
but he was here two weeks!

Happy Birthday Deb

It's my sister-in-laws birthday today. Feel a bit guilty as I haven't a new card to show you as I made her this shaker card quite some time ago. (She likes cats) It had a few sentiments added to it back then, but seeing it was a DT card, I'd (shhh!) fixed them on with that white blu Tack, so I could peel them off again after I'd taken the photos... so here it is again...naked!! Happy Birthday Deb!

Baby Boy Card

I've added a few links to freebies papers in this Post. I know most of you 'Oldies' will have them, but there's quite a lot of Newbies who won't have! Just finished another baby boy card this afternoon. Out of the three, Tom (son-in-law) has chosen the shaker card I made a few posts back. I knew he would!
Same Penny Black image that I used for the other card, as it's what Tom had asked for, but this time I used two different sized gingham papers instead, available to download for free HERE.
The flowers are the same blue gingham, just printed on a bit of note paper. I think they look more like they've been stamped out of cloth.
The New Baby sentiment is from MadAboutCards and you can download that with other things like hands and feet for free too, HERE. (they also have some baby pink gingham as well and also pink and yellow gingham in their Easter section, while you're there 'check' out the cute chicks too!)
I've added a bit if Stickles glitter, used Martha Stewart and Xcut punches for the flowers and leaves and two McGill stacking punches for the squares and a cuttlebug die cut (which you can hardly see) and a Woodware corner punch. Plus ProMakers to colour.
Tom's been busy all evening, making things! Typing, stamping and colouring! He's made these baby sitting vouchers. (Emma helped cut them out and fix them together with the heart brad)
The baby (Tom's new nephew) hasn't been named yet and won't be until he goes back to Iceland in about two months, I believe the happy parents will be handing out the vouchers to family and friends to baby sit. I'm guessing there'll be lots of takers!
Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Dad

Happy Birthday Pop! (that'll make him moan at me!) I'd already made a few of cards, which I'd put by, knowing that they'd be suitable for dad's birthday, but as usual, when I went to hunt them out that mischievous card swiping fairy had hidden them somewhere else. So out of the two I found, I picked this one. Okay, yes you've seen it before, and if you remember, please!! get out more!! you stay in more than I do! It was one of my Quirky Craft's DT cards a little while back and at the time I just knew it needed more, so...here it is with "more!" In case you missed it last time, the font is called Apple Butter and you can download it for free HERE
(It's official! , I'm a font freak! I knew that without looking it up!)
New Follower! Welcome to davidbayles who's out the back and in the dark, with no link. Hi (((wave)) The lottery numbers have just been called and.....once again, I am not a millionaire, so see you again later!! Thanks for stopping by!

An Iceland Baby Shaker Card

I haven't made a shaker card for ages so when Tom asked me to make a baby boy card, I thought I'll make a few for him to choose from, but one of them's going to be a shaker! I decided to use my Quirky Craft's sketch for this one (with a square instead of a circle) The new baby boy will be flying back to Iceland very soon! I found some icy blue papers, used white faux stitching, using a white gel pen, added Stickles Icicles glitter, frosty silver and silvery eyelash wool and tiny snowflakes inside the shaker as well as on the corner with the flower. Penny Black image of course, coloured with my ProMarkers. I stamped out the letters using my Quickutz. I've also (although it's hard to see) embossed the rectangle behind the shaker, with hearts. The little stork I'm sure I brought back with me from USA last year. I've also added a bit of silver and white ribbon, which wasn't on my sketch but I thought it looked nice. Hope I'm not too late for some of the challenges I've found. There were some shaker card challenges but I think I've missed those.
New Follower, hi and a big ((wave)) to kobies crafty corner pop over and say hi!
Thank you for stopping by.

Is this another WOYWW?!

Batteries! What would we do without them? At the moment we only have one set, I need them for the camera and hubby needs them for something he's doing... of course I need them more! "It's Wednesday!" I say,"No it's not, it's Tuesday," sez he. "Well it will be Wednesday!" says me. I think he needs them for a mouse... the computer type not the grey squeaky type, although he has been taking pictures of our caravan today... It's going on Ebay. It's the type of caravan that you see on the telly, yep, that's right, the kind you see them blowing up or catapulting throw the air to see how far they'll fly. It's been a great caravan, we just haven't had a tow bar for about ten years!
As you can see, I'm in the living room again. Well I'm not, whilst typing this, I'm at my computer in my craft room... I was tidying my craft room but as usual, got waylaid in doing other 'stuff' so once again it is too messy to take a picture of and seeing it's now one thirty in the morning (and I've got the camera and the batteries so there!!) it's not likely to get done. Back on the dining table in the living room, I haven't started it yet but I'm going to make a baby boy card, which will eventually find its way to Iceland! So I'm thinking a nice ice blue. Tom (son in law) is an uncle again and he rang me up last night and asked me to make the card, using my Penny Black baby hedgehog stamp. So I've been sorting out papers and things and then remembered I'd better do a Wednesday digi! And there it is. Beady eyed crafters might notice the jar of Nutella... it's empty! Yep, Nutella on toast...yummy... Just to prove I do have a craft room, here's the 'tidy' side of it! (Behind me as I type!)
So, that's it this week folks. I'm not here, this is on timer, while I'm off to work, so see you when I get back! (Thanks to Mandi for linking me again last week.) If you have a crafty space no matter where it is or even if it's only a tea tray, or even a huge shop! why not take a pic and come and join in. Pop over to the queen of all craft snooping Julia's Stamping Ground and sign into What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday!

*Hope to get round you all.. can't get into moy yin's blog again this week, it all just goes dark and nothing is clickable! If you can, tell me how!

*Update...Change to Internet Explorer to go to Moy's blog, it works then!

Sorry you missed this weeks freebie
But there's another one on the latest Wednesday Post.
See top of side bar!!

Monday 8 November 2010

I found an old Oldie.

OGM!! (damn I can't even spell that right!) Look what I found... doing a bit of moving stuff about and found a Christmas Card I made about three or four years ago, using my own doodling of a Mr and Mrs Snowperson.. This has not gone through the computer and is an original drawing. I've used glittery gell pens to colour them as it was made waaay 'BP' (Before Promakers) and added a few peel-offs. Looks like I've used a bit of Liquid Applique too.
I don't use peel-offs very much these days. Are you for peel-off or against them? (or maybe in my case sometimes, stuck to them!)

A Quirky Quicky Inchie! From Lorna

Lorna has just emailed me, that she couldn't resist or ignore the Quirky Craft's Challenge and has, would you believe!!! used the Quirky Craft's sketch I put up a little while ago and has made an INCHIE!! Well done Lorna I was thinking of you when I typed that!! (That'll teach me!) I'll now add it to the challenge for you...
Thank you for having a go!
Pop Over to The Quirky Craft's Challenge Blog and join in!

Quirky Challenge: It's My Sketch!

Yep, it's my turn this time round to set the challenge over on Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog. This fortnight we'd love you to join us in our Crafty Quirkiness and use a sketch.
It's nice and easy, so we look forward to seeing Hundreds of entries!! (or I'll sulk and stamp my foot)
We'd love to see anything crafty, a card, scrapbook page, tag, fat page, altered art, ATC, or even Inchies, if you think you can!

Quirky Crafts Sketch
Sunday 7th Nov- Saturday 2oth
See, told you it was easy! Feel free to rotate the sketch, add bits, invert it or use it in any way you wish, fold it in a cone and put chips in it if you like, just so long as we can still see the sketch within your work!
We're also looking for some new DT members. Someone who has a blog, who can make a card/scrapbook page or anything crafty, every two weeks and take a reasonable picture, is really all you have to be able to do! Easy! (We don't do hard coz we can't!) If you don't think you could manage every two weeks but would still like to give it a go, why not think about becoming a Guess Designer. All you have to do, is join in this sketch challenge (as many times as you wish) and add either DT or GDT to your name in MR Linky or send the Quirky Team an email and we'll get back to you! Simples! Of course, sometimes we have sponsors for our challenges and they send us their goodies to use, obviously you'll also be sent the same goodies to use too!

That's enough blurb! Here's my card.
First I took a square card a chopped about an inch off it. Covered it first in the blue side of Forever Friends 'Gift Wrapped' A4 Double-sided Cardstock (240gsm) and then the dotty side and inked the edges. Then I did the same thing with the smaller rectangle, only this time, used the stripes, added white brads and fixed on with 3D foam pads and silicone glue. Both the circles were cut from Woodware Punches.
I then stamped and cut out the little 'Padded Paws', Animal Ark (by DoCrafts) clear stamp image and coloured it with ProMakers and also 3D-ed the balloon. At one time thought about doing a spot of paper piecing with the balloon, but once again, changed my mind.
I added Stickles Glitter in Baby Blue, the flowers are from my stash and those tiny gems (I added three) are by Anita's, using a Quickie Glue pen to fix them on.
That's it! Click on the pictures to make them larger as I've scribbled on some of them. I had a suddenly rush of madness and put mock stitching all around the card with a blue gel pen, but....wasn't sure about. But I've ended putting them both on here... what d'you think? (Click the pictures to make them larger) The inside I've left plain with a white scalloped circle to one side ready to write in.
If you fancy having a go at this challenge but haven't got a blog why not email us a picture and we'll add it to the challenge for you! That's it from me, catch you all later! Thanks for stopping by.

Just a bit of Quirkiness

The New Challenge starts over on the Quirky Craft Challenge blog tomorrow evening, so get your crafty stuff out, coz it's my sketch and I want to see hundreds if not more entries!! Here's a bit of a peek of my card, there was going to be four little pictures all squished up together, but they would only come out in a long line, so I gave up on that idea! If you want to see more pop back tomorrow or better still pop over to the challenge blog, Sunday evening and have a go!
One of our numbers is leaving, so we thought, (well someone did!) it's about time we had a DT call. So look out for that too, if you'd like to join the Quirky Crafts Team, either as a designer or a guess designer add DT or GDT to your entry or send us an email (link on Quirky Craft's side bar!) See you tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!
